The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States has announced that sibutramine and phenolphthalein were found in a weight loss product “Sit and Slim II” as hidden ingredients and called a halt to the use of the product.

Sibutramine is classified as S6-Stimulants in the 2014 Prohibited List and is prohibited in-competition. The substance increases cardiovascular risk and is a Part I poison. All sibutramine containing products have been banned in Hong Kong since November 2010. Phenolphthalein, on the other hand, is a chemical ingredient that poses a cancer-causing risk.

Athletes are advised to stop using this product immediately and remain cautious to supplements especially those promoted for sexual enhancement, weight loss, and body building, even though they claim themselves to be “all natural”.
