The Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee (HKADC) announces today (3 November 2022) that Miss TO Yuen Kwan, athlete in the sport of Athletics, has been imposed a 2-year sanction for Anti-Doping Rule Violations (“ADRVs”).
The violation occurred during an in-competition doping control on 25 June 2022. The athlete’s urine sample was tested positive for Higenamine which is prohibited under S3. Beta-2 Agonists in sport at all times in the 2022 Prohibited List.
In response to HKADC’s notification of the adverse analytical finding, Miss. TO voluntarily accepted the provisional suspension and exercised her right to requested B sample opening and analysis on 2 August 2022. The Test Report of the B Sample was dated 23 August 2022 and confirmed the presence of Higenamine, same as found in the Athlete’s A Sample.
The Doping Control Panel of the Hong Kong Anti-Doing Committee carefully considered the case and Miss TO was found guilty of violating Article 2.1 and Article 2.2 of the Anti-Doping Rules of HKADC. Nevertheless, Miss TO waived her right to request for a hearing to be convened and accepted the charges and consequences on 28 August 2022.
In the circumstances that the case involved Specified Substances, Miss TO’s period of ineligibility has started from 2 August 2022 to 1 August 2024. During the period of ineligibility, Miss TO is ineligible to participate in any capacity in a competition or activity described in Article 10.14.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules of HKADC.
As a result of the ADRVs, all competitive results obtained by Miss TO from 25 June 2022 to 2 August 2022 be disqualified with all resulting consequences including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes, all competition results achieved by Miss TO at the Hong Kong Athletics Championships 2022 have been automatically removed.
