The World Anti-Doping Agency has published the 2012 Prohibited List on 27 September 2011. Major changes to the 2012 Prohibited List include:
- The beta-2 agonist fomoterol will not be prohibited when and only when taken by inhalation at therapeutic dosages.
- The use of alcohol in-competition in ninepin and tenpin bowling will not be prohibited.
- In-competition use of beta-blockers will be permitted in bobsleigh and skeleton, curling, modern pentathlon, motorcycling, sailing and wrestling.
- Nicotine, hydrocone, and tramadol, and out-of competition use of glucocorticosteroids, although not prohibited, have been included in the 2012 Monitoring Program.
